Planning Your Sangeet Without the Stress
5 min read · Volve Wedding · 4 September 2026
The sangeet has become the main event of the Indian wedding — and with it, the pressure. Family group chats, song debates, cousins with strong opinions and zero rehearsal attendance.
Here is our calm, do-this-not-that guide.
Do
Start eight to ten weeks out. Choose songs people already love rather than what's merely trending. Keep each performance under three minutes. Group family members by comfort level, not hierarchy — enthusiastic aunties with enthusiastic aunties.
Don't
Don't choreograph for the dancer you wish your uncle was. Don't leave the couple's dance for last-minute — it is the one everyone films. And don't aim for perfect; aim for joyful. The clips that go viral are never the flawless ones. They are the ones where everyone is clearly having the time of their lives.
